Stamped Bank of Chattanooga Notes
Overview
Numerous types of Overstamps were stamped on Bank of Chattanooga notes.
One major group of stamps that are found on obsolete notes are exchange
bankers stamps. There were exchange bankers in most major cities. The
meaning of many other stamps is not currently known.
Exchange Banker Stamps on Bank of Chattanooga Notes
Exchange bankers, for a fee, would exchange currency or would stamp it
to indicate the notes were genuine and the value was guaranteed by the
exchange bank. A number of exchange banker stamps on Bank of Chattanooga
notes are shown.
